Sara Ali Khan Must Submit Proof of Faith To Visit Badrinath–Kedarnath Temples, Says Committee Chairman
Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan has recently come into focus following a new directive issued by the temple authorities of Badrinath Temple and Kedarnath Temple. The development comes ahead of the upcoming Char Dham Yatra and has sparked widespread discussion around faith and access to religious sites.
As per the latest announcement by the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee, non-Hindu devotees will now be required to submit an affidavit declaring their faith in Sanatan Dharma before being allowed darshan at these temples. The rule is not specific to any individual but applies uniformly to all visitors who do not identify as Hindus.
During a press interaction, committee chairman Hemant Dwivedi clarified the stance, stating that anyone—regardless of background—would be permitted entry if they express belief in Sanatan Dharma and provide a written declaration to that effect. Referring specifically to Sara Ali Khan, he said, “If Sara Ali Khan expresses her devotion towards Sanatan Dharma and submits an affidavit, we will allow her to offer prayers.”
The actress, who has frequently visited Kedarnath over the years, is known for sharing glimpses of her spiritual trips on social media. Her visits are often seen as deeply personal rather than promotional, reflecting a consistent connection with the shrine.
This new regulation is part of a broader move by the temple committee to preserve the religious sanctity and traditional practices associated with these revered pilgrimage sites. Reports suggest that similar rules will apply across multiple temples under the committee’s jurisdiction in Uttarakhand.
While the directive has triggered debate around inclusivity and religious practices, the committee maintains that the intent is to distinguish between religious devotion and general tourism, ensuring that the spiritual essence of these temples remains intact.
